MEALSMA

- Melasma is a common skin disorder. Loosely translated, the word means “black spot.” If you have melasma you’re probably experiencing light brown, dark brown and/or blue-gray patches on your skin. They can appear as flat patches or freckle-like spots. Commonly affected areas include your face, including the cheeks, upper lip and forehead, as well as the forearms. Melasma is sometimes called the “mask of pregnancy” because it frequently affects pregnant women. Melasma typically darkens and lightens over time, often getting worse in the summer and better in the winter.

PIGMENTATION- Pigmentation in simple terms means discolouring. The skin disorder is basically affects your skin colour. Melanin is nothing but pigment which is responsible for skin colouring. Melanocytes make melanin in skin. Melanin production is disturbed if these skin cells are damaged or become unhealthy.Pigmentation is harmless and a common skin condition, within which a particular skin area becomes darker in colour. Sometimes a small amount of pigmentation tends to happen on any part of the skin. In certain conditions, if the size of pigmentation increases and darkens further, it is called hyperpigmentation. Hyperpigmentation is not serious or harmful to health , but it concerns the human on an aesthetic level.
